Overview

Since 2019, ECOSOM has saved over 140,000 trees by replacing
charcoal with briquettes and planting seed balls across Somalia.

Its biochar has permanently removed around 36,000 tons of CO₂,
while briquette use has prevented another 31,000 tons, totaling
over 67,000 tons of CO₂ impact.

More than 29,000 tons of agri-waste have been recycled into
clean energy, animal feed, and soil enhancers, reducing pollution
and supporting sustainable agriculture.

By 2030, ECOSOM aims to remove an additional 176,000
tons of CO₂ and save 60,000 more trees through scaled-up
biochar and briquette production.

ECOSOM is leading a green shift in Somalia fighting
deforestation, cutting emissions, and restoring ecosystems.

FAQ

How Ecosom Transforms Waste into Opportunity

Ecosom turns agricultural waste and invasive plants into clean energy, livestock feed, and biochar while restoring degraded land and fighting climate change in Somalia.

Our eco-briquettes replace charcoal, saving 1.26 million trees annually and reducing 4 million tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

These clean cookstoves reduce charcoal use by 50–60%, improve household air quality, and save families $10–15 per month on fuel costs.

We provide biochar and livestock feed that improve soil fertility by 30–50% and increase livestock productivity by 80–150%, boosting food security and income.

Yes, our briquettes, stoves, and feed products are available through local distributors across Somalia.

Over 60% of our workforce are women, producing stoves, feed, and biochar, creating sustainable green jobs in rural areas.
